When it comes to a low-carb diet such as the ever-popular Ketogenic Diet (read more on that HERE). Typically when talking about diets, you immediately consider the food you’re eating, and what you put into your coffee. Then the weekend rolls around and you go out for a drink with a friend or two, and suddenly you realize – you have no idea what you can drink on a low-carb diet. To help ease the sting of uncertainty, we’ve compiled a list of drinks that get a green light on the Keto diet, along with some recipes for cocktails you can make at home, too!

1. Keto Lemon Drop

This cocktail is made simply using some protein water (yes, that’s a thing), lemon juice, stevia sweetener, and some blood orange vodka.

This might be your new favorite hard lemon cocktail for summer! Refreshing and sweet, without damaging your daily goals.

2. Wine

Yes, wine!! By keeping to just one glass a day, you can easily enjoy some red or white wine on your low-carb diet.

For a 5oz glass of wine, you can expect to be drinking about 3-4 net carbs in a glass. Not bad for a daily wind-down, or a beverage you won’t feel weird ordering at a restaurant. Your best bet for a white is a glass of Sauvignon Blanc which averages 2.7g net carbs per 5oz, while a Pinot Noir is your best option for a red wine, coming in at an average of 3.4g net carbs per 5oz glass.

3. Sugar-Free Strawberry Lemonade Mojitos

Mojitos might be my favorite summer drink. Poolside, patios – if there’s a mojito on the menu, it’s mine.

Even though they have a tart taste to them, they’re actually usually loaded with sugar. Often you can ask for a “skinny” mojito meaning that they omit the sugar altogether, or you can try a recipe like this strawberry-infused one that’s just as sweet, without the carbs.

4. Vodka Soda

Thankfully, there’s the trusty vodka soda. Often a go-to for those watching their calories, carbs, and intake, but still enjoying the buzz of a drink – vodka sodas are a true hero.

Mixing a plain club soda along with a shot of vodka, you’re intaking ZERO carbs! Squeeze in a wedge of freshly cut lime and you’ve got yourself a refreshing little cocktail.

5. Low-Carb Sex On The Beach

Back to that trusty no-carb vodka, you can make a cocktail using it along with sugar-free sodas such as Sprite or 7-Up, and some water enhancers!

This is a perfect summer drink, that will help you reach your summer goals by staying low-carb and keto-friendly!

6. Healthier Bloody Mary Cocktail

When it comes to a Bloody Mary, this classic drink is not without carbs. However, the carbs are found in the tomato juice! A good rule of thumb is that 1oz of tomato juice equals 1g net carb.

With that in mind, keep your tomato juice between 3-6oz to keep this drink low-carb! While it’s on the higher end of carb counts on the list, it’s still worth a mention as it’s easy to adapt to suit your carb intake goals.

7. Whiskey

A hard liquor that’s arguably best served straight or over a cube or two of ice, this alcoholic drink isn’t just low-carb, it’s no-carb.

Thankfully, whiskey pairs really well with another low-carb option – steak!

8. Skinny Sangria

A summer patio favorite – sangria is the fruity wine we all love to make a pitcher of for our next backyard BBQ.

This version keeps things light, low-carb and sugar-free using stevia instead of a simple syrup that most sangrias require. Each glass will serve up just 2g of net carbs!

9. Low-Carb Margarita For One

When making cocktails, you don’t have to be bartending for a crowd. Live your best life! Make yourself a treat! This treat, in cocktail form – won’t even disrupt your diet.

While a classically mixed margarita will yield a whopping 27g of net carbs, this recipe comes in at just 3g of carbs. Huzzah!

10. Low-Carb Vanilla Old Fashioned

Since whiskey is no-carb, and bourbon is a whiskey – well then this recipe makes perfect sense! With a few little swaps, of course.

Using water enhancers (no sugar), some vanilla beans, some sugar-free vanilla syrup (the kind you’d normally use for coffees) with some club soda and of course – bourbon…you have yourself one amazing low-carb cocktail!

11. Sugar-Free Irish Cream

Cream liqueurs are amazing, and popular…but incredibly sweet with a high carb count, making it nearly impossible to enjoy on a low-carb diet.

With this recipe, you can make it yourself with sugar-free sweetened condensed milk, cream, Irish whiskey, along with some other key ingredients. So indulgent (in a good way!).

12. Light Beer

Depending on the variety you choose, there are several light beers that definitely fit the bill for being a low-carb drink option. Most light beers vary from 2-5g net carbs!

When it comes to beer, the key is just stopping at one (unless you’ve banked all your carbs to enjoy a few!).

13. Low-Carb, Sugar-Free Moscow Mule

Gaining popularity (and served up just in the best way) the Moscow Mule has become a staple on bar menus everywhere. If you’re on a low-carb or sugar-free diet, however, this drink is not for you.

So make it yourself with this recipe that in just 5 simple ingredients you can mix together and serve at your next event to everyone with the added diet bonus of being a healthier option than the original!

14. Ultimate Low-Carb Cocktail

The recipe title says it all – it might be the perfect combination for anyone looking for an adult boozy beverage to chill out with.

With fresh lime juice, gin (no carb!), sparkling water, cucumber slices and some stevia drops – you have yourself a refreshing beverage that everyone will love. You don’t even need to tell them it’s low-carb.

15. Low-Carb Pina Colada

For many in the summertime, the Pina Colada is the must-have drink to refresh with. This blended drink of pineapple and coconut, mixed with rum may seem like the last thing you’d see on this list.

Thankfully, there’s a recipe that keeps it low enough in net carbs to allow this as a special treat. It’s not as low-carb as many on the list, but it still comes in around 8g of net carbs. Not bad for something that’s so indulgent!
