Dark chocolate can be good for your heart health because they contain flavonoids which are called polyphenols, due to this it may help control blood pressure, reduce inflammation as well as may help prevent blood clotting. It is important to keep in mind like almost everything it is great for your health but in moderation. Excessive drinking (more than a glass or two a day regularly) can actually have the opposite effect and may increase your risk of heart disease.

In some recent studies, it is shown that red wine contains resveratrol, which can help prevent blood clots and damage to blood vessels. If you aren’t a wine lover you can find resveratrol in other sources such as natural peanut butter or grapes.

7. Citrus Fruits

However, beware if you take a cholesterol-lowering medication as grapefruits might not be suited to consume while taking this drug. Make sure to always consult your doctor when changing your diet.

Furthermore, citrus’s are well known to be high in vitamin C, this may help to lower the risk of heart disease as well as may help lower the risk of ischemic stroke (a stroke caused by a blood clot to the brain). Like anything, drink your coffee in moderation. Too much caffeine can be bad for your health too.

Avocados the trendiest fruit out there right now is getting a lot of hype for good reason. This luscious fruit can be presented to make an Instagram-worthy photo but more importantly is actually very good for the heart.

Avocados are full of good and healthy fats. To be specific, they’re rich in monounsaturated fats. This type of fat may lower your risk of heart disease, like controlling your cholesterol levels. There are so many great recipes out there including avocados that almost everyone can include them easily into their daily diet.

16. Tomatoes

Similar to potatoes, tomatoes are also a great source of potassium which we have discussed earlier may help lower blood pressure. Furthermore, they also contain amazing sources to help reduce unwanted cholesterol, may help lower the risk of a heart attack and can help keep your blood vessels open to regulate blood flow.

Tomatoes are also low in sugar and calories which means they are an excellent choice to add to your daily diet to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Not to mention, they are also an excellent source of Vitamin C.

17. Broccoli

Like Kale, broccoli is also a great vegetable choice for a healthy heart. Broccoli contains a lot of healthy properties that can help prevent a stroke or heart attack. They can also help reduce cholesterol levels and keep the blood vessels strong.
