Coined “The World’s Most Instagrammable Coffee” we obviously had to go a take a visit to our own local (Guelph, Ontario, Canada) specialty coffee shop – Balzac’s, to find out just what this craze was all about!

The invention of a coffee served up in a chocolate-lined cone was invented by a man named Dayne Levinrad, who sought to bring some excitement to the coffee industry. Well, looks like he did just that!

 

Only catch? You must enjoy the beverage in 10 minutes or less!

 

Balzac’s welcomed Dayne for their first pour of the Coffee In A Cone on May 11th in Toronto, and the hashtag #coffeeinacone has continued to trend ever since. Balzac’s serves these cones up with 4 different coffee options: double espresso, macchiato, hot chocolate or a Nitro Cold Brew.

 

Balzac’s is a growing business with it’s first cafe opening it’s doors in 1996, and now has 11 locations across Ontario. The cafe has some pretty unique features, like their artisinal-style experience, and a focus on natural, sustainable locally sourced goods. There’s a strong focus on Fair Trade and organic, and offerings for common dietary needs like gluten-free and vegan.

 

 

Personally, Balzac’s is my go-to coffee shop. While they are a chain that provides a high-level coffee experience, it always leaves you with a feel-good vibe of supporting a local business. Even with their popularity and growth, it continues to connect to people with a passion for these traits. Not to mention, it really really makes for a great Instagram photo, every time (those floors!). I may even own my own Balzac’s mug for when I’m at home, drinking their coffee from a keurig pod 😉

 

The addition of the #CoffeeInACone to Balzac’s Coffee Roasters cafes is an absolute win in our books. Definitely recommend trying this fun trend. And please, Instagram that photo! Balzac’s even has instructions in the cafe on how to take the perfect shot!
