Fried eggs are what most people would refer to as how they want their breakfast meal made. Fried, or sunny side up, is a whole egg cracked into a hot skillet and heated until the white is fully cooked, but the yolk remains runny. That yolk is a creamy delicious sauce that compliments so many dishes, and while common in many Asian cuisines, the fried egg is now venturing into mainstream food culture, and it’s definitely worth trying. These recipes will break you away from the norm, and into some ooey gooey combinations that are sure to have you crack-a-lacking by the dozen.

1. Spicy Kimchi Pork Belly Fried Rice

Like mentioned before, fried eggs are often a complimenting factor to many Asian dishes. If you aren’t sure what kimchi is – it’s Korean spicy pickled cabbage. It adds a world of flavor and can really finish off a dish. This recipe may sound complicated, but it’s fairly simple and impressive none the less. That nice cracked egg on top makes it extra delectable.

2. Totchos

What in the flip is a “totcho” you ask? It’s a tater tot nacho! Tater tots (instead of tortillas) with fresh homemade salsa and a fried egg on top. It’s not your traditional loaded nachos, but breakfast, lunch or dinner, this is one killer way to enjoy a fried egg.

3. Pacos

Again with the weird food names… but this time ‘pacos’ means pancake nachos, aka. American breakfast tacos. The pancake shell houses a fried egg, cheese and bacon. It’s then drizzled with (you guessed it!) maple syrup. Health conscious this is not, however this makes one cool Instagram worthy meal that is sure to get some double taps.

4. Cheddar Garlic Grits With Fried Egg

In need of a savory dish that will satisfy, and need it in less than 10 minutes? While grits are a traditional breakfast kind of dish, this savory version makes it much more relatable to any point of the day. The fried egg on top compliments the creamy cheesy garlicky grits and makes for an unforgettable meal.

5. Prosciutto, Arugula & Fried Egg Pizza

Trust me, fried egg on a pizza is not as crazy as it might look or sound. The creamy texture of the yolk brings out the best flavors with some high end classic Italian pizza toppings, blending together for an out of this world pizza experience that may have you cracking an egg, even when you order takeout. This recipe with the peppery taste of arugula, the salty prosciutto, savory tomato sauce and the creamy egg center, is a well thought out combination that will really bring your pizza game up a level or two.

6. Brunch Burger With Bacon Jam

Not ready to separate the egg from the breakfast? How about a small bump in the day to…well, brunch! While this recipe calls for a lot of homemade goodness, at the end of it you’ll be impressed that you successfully made a meal and its accompanying sauces. Plus, bacon jam? That suddenly sounds like a life necessity.

7. Avocado & Egg Spaghetti Squash Boats

This meal is described by its creator as a light breakfast for dinner. It’s low carb and veggie packed, yet filling with the protein of the egg and the healthy fats of avocado. This recipe also only calls for five ingredients, while maintaining an impressive one-dish meal to present to your peeps. The recipe calls for the egg to be merely baked with the squash instead of fried, but it’s still making the list for being a sunny side up like you’ve never experienced before.

8. Cheeseburger Eggsplosion

Remember being a kid and your mom cut the little center from a slice of bread, cracked an egg into it and fried it with that egg in the middle? Everyone seems to have a different name for it, but commonly it’s known simply as “egg in a hole”. Now, replace that slice of bread with a hamburger patty. Make that your new and improved “egg in a hole” (somehow saying egg in a meat hole sounds way too wrong, so let’s avoid that). Fry that egg and that burger and load it onto a bun with cheese and you’ll have an eggsplosion in yo mouth!

9. Asparagus Fried Egg Spaghetti

Don’t you dare start shaking your head over the thought of a fried egg on spaghetti, it’s freaking awesome. If you have ever tried a spaghetti carbonara recipe, you’ll know that the yolk of an egg is an essential ingredient to making that dish the creamy delight that it is. Now, consider this recipe a little more deconstructed, yet visually really appealing. The yolk will lend itself as a sauce, and the cooked egg will mix in nicely as the protein of your dinner. Add your asparagus, and voila! You have yourself a winning meal.

10. Savory Oatmeal With Cheddar & Fried Egg

Savory oatmeal is all the rage these days. It’s a food trend that’s being seen in big cities, and high end restaurants and the homemakers and food bloggers are all over it. The savory oatmeal trend is a transitional meal from morning to night, so whenever you choose to enjoy it, it works. This recipe adds on the fried egg with vegetables and serves up one nutritionally beneficial meal.
