Did you know that March is “Caffeine Awareness Month”? I didn’t either! But as a lover of coffee, the controversial brew with notable negative (it’s a highly addictive drug even in liquid form) and positive health benefits (coffee has been linked to weight loss, improved energy, and even the prevention of Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and Type II Diabetes), holds a tight grasp on my morning ritual. Let’s celebrate the world’s most dearly drank dark brewed drink.

Although, it wouldn’t be prudent for us to celebrate National Caffeine Awareness Month without telling you to enjoy your coffee while drinking your beloved brew in moderation…

1. Peppermint Vanilla Swirl Coffee

If you love the comforting taste of vanilla as much as I do, pull up a chair, wrap yourself in a cozy blanket and stick around for this fresh and festive peppermint vanilla swirl coffee. Your favorite light roast coffee combines harmoniously with velvety sweet Coffee-Mate French Vanilla creamer. Add a gracious teaspoon of peppermint coffee syrup, a dollop of whipped cream, and a drizzle of chocolate syrup.

2. Creme Brûlée Coffee

A gourmet coffee worthy of signature coffeehouse drink status, this creme brûlée brew blends sticky bourbon caramel sauce, fresh ground iCoffee beans, milk, and don’t forget a touch of brown sugar for a genuine fire-torched brûléed touch. The best thing about this brew is that it’s homemade so you can have more than one, or serve up a round to your friends, without the gourmet cafe prices.

3. Praline Latte

Inspired by Starbucks cafe, you can make this latte in your PJs right at home. This praline latte is made with 4-tablespoons of melted butter (apologies to your waistlines in advance), half a cup of light brown sugar, a cup of milk, fragrant vanilla extract, and brewed coffee. For the true Starbucks latte experience, froth your milk and sprinkle some crunchy pecan bits on top.

4. S’Mores Coffee Milkshake

This fancy adult beverage will make you feel like a kid again…particularly if you insert a polkadot straw for sipping! To make simply brew a pot of coffee and chill (or cool at room temperature). Rim a tall glass with marshmallow cream and dip the rim in crushed graham cracker. Drizzle chocolate syrup along the inside of the glass for that smeared affect and set your glass aside. Blend your coffee with vanilla ice cream and as much marshmallow cream as you can handle. Top with a dollop of whipped cream and garnish with a chocolate covered espresso bean. Slurp!

5. Coffee Masala Latte

You’ll be buzzing happily thanks to this cozy fall or winter caffeine kick. Blend almond (or soy) milk and coconut milk until it’s nice and frothy. Blend together with you favorite dark brewed coffee and sweeten with agave and vanilla. Add a final energetic kick with an infusing spice blend of cinnamon, ginger, cloves, star anise, black pepper, and cardamom.

6. Tiramisu Pudding Shots

Coffee, Kahlua liqueur, vodka, and creamy chocolate pudding make a great crowd-pleasure when served up in shot glass form! The thick and creamy chocolate pudding base packs a boozy punch thanks to a gracious splash of Kahlua paired with vodka. The tiramisu flavor is achieved with milk, brewed coffee, coffee liqueur, and foamy whipped cream topping.

7. Mocha Maple Coffee

Blustery winter days demand a comforting cup of Joe. I nominate this mocha coffee infused with pure maple syrup sweetness and crème de cacao or chocolate syrup. A true caffeinated indulgence, this drink is the perfect brunch or after dinner treat…it’s literally dessert in liquid form!  To ensure a foamy brew, whisk your cream and maple syrup together until it’s thick and foamy, then dress your coffee with the foam using a flat-bottomed teaspoon. Top your mocha maple creation with shaved dark chocolate.
