The very special and much anticipated Canada Day weekend is approaching and we are starting to plan our parties! Red and white are perfect colors to make some beautiful desserts, but sometimes it can be difficult to get inspired. Here are some simple yet oh so delicious desserts that will blow your guests out of the water, and make you look super patriotic! I bet this is going to make you hungry, eh?

1. Fruit Kabob

For a simple and healthy dessert, try out these cute little kabobs that are made using a maple leaf cookie cutter. Slide on some strawberries and bananas, and you have yourself one perfect dessert.

2. Canada Day Layer Cake

Another fruit that is basically made for Canada Day is the raspberry. It’s bright red color contrasts perfectly on the layer cake for Canada Day and has us appreciating our Canadian summers so much more.

3. Strawberry Pretzel Dessert

In a hurry? You may think this dessert looks complicated, but would you believe that the crust is made out of pretzels? You can make a dessert like this very easily, just in time for the Canada Day party down the street!

4. True North Maple Cake with Buttercream Icing and Strawberry Filling (Vegan)

Got some vegans in the crowd? Don’t leave them out of the festivities! This vegan Canada Cake is perfect for our July 1 celebration and appeals to even the non-vegans out there.

5. Canada Day Popsicles

Canada Day usually consists of kids running around in the front yard through sprinklers in the hot summer sun. Hand out these cooling popsicles as an easy treat so everyone can keep playing until the sun sets.

6. Nanaimo Cheesecake

Did you know Nanaimo Bars are a Canadian dessert? We all know how irresistible they are, so why not make an amazing dessert even better by turning it into a cheesecake?

7. Simple Canada Day Cake

Are all these desserts a little overwhelming? Check out this cake that looks complicated but is actually so simple!

8. Red Velvet White Chocolate Chip Cookies

Before you whip up a batch of chocolate chip cookies as an easy potluck contribution, hold on! Rewind and make them red and white. It’s a simple change that will make all the difference when placed alongside all the other red and white desserts.

9. The Famous Canadian Butter Tart

The fact that Butter Tarts are exclusive to Canada is heartbreaking for all those other countries out there. Or maybe it’s for the better – health-wise. Either way, Canada Day is definitely a cheat day and worth indulging in one of these for old times sake.

10. White Chocolate Dipped Strawberries

A simple yet so sophisticated dessert. These pair perfectly with a little champagne and some fireworks for Canada Day!
